Couples Counseling
Frequently couples go through periods of disagreement and argument, passive and active hostility, hostile dependency, patterns of codependency, distancing and difficulty in communicating. These moments are normal and represent opportunities for a couple to grow in understanding, trust and love for one another. But there are times when a couple becomes caught in habitual dysfunctional patterns of communication, attitude and behavior. These usually result from unresolved emotional issues that one or both people bring to their relationship. Counseling helps a couple to recognize and understand how their unresolved issues and reactions intersect with one another to create and perpetuate conflict. Through guided inquiry, discussion and interaction, two partners learn to better understand themselves and one another, and to communicate and interact more effectively, respectfully and lovingly.
